ScienceSouth

Robots and rockets!  DNA and Dinosaurs!  Inspire educate - entertain - that is the ScienceSouth philosophy and to more than 50,000 students - that is reality.  ScienceSouth began as a concept and has grown into two mobile labs, science camps for teachers, joint ventures with the Governor's School for Science and Mathematics to embarking on the permanent facility.  All thanks to the Junior League of Florence!
That's right - ScienceSouth would not be where it is today without the initial and and crucial support of the Junior League of Florence.  In 2000 the visionary members of the Juior League voted to donate $100,000 to ScienceSouth over a five year period.  Because of that donation, ScienceSouth has thrived.  The Junior League has a permanent seat on the Board of Directors of ScienceSouth and has prominent visibility on the first mobile lab and will have similar visibility at the permanent facility.
The multi-purpose learning environment of both the mobile labs and the permanent facility spawn educational opportunities for people of all ages.  Recently the City of Florence has designated property for a new facility.  ScienceSouth is expecting an opening date of fall of 2007.
